I have been advised by an arborist to apply Essential Plus to my 6" caliper Cleveland Select pear tree throughout the growing season. How often and how much should I apply? I assume a diluted solution would be spread around the drip line? I applied this once to the tree last fall and it did not seem to help, so recommendation was to apply all through the growing season. I am having iron trunk injection done this fall.
From the manufacturers label:
Initial Application: 32 – 64 fl. oz. per 100 gal of water
Maintenance: 32 fl. oz. per 100 gal of water
Soil inject, drench or spray at appropriate
rates to ensure proper soil penetration. 2 inch DBH caliper tree requires 1.5 gal solution within the tree dripline area and 1 foot from the flair of the tree. Maintenance time is typically every 2 -3 months excluding winter season
Can I apply this in the drought condition?
Essential could in theory be applied during drought conditions. However, since Essential plus is a soil amendment intended to nourish the microfauna in the soil, some studies suggest not all microbes are actively growing during times of drought. It may be more beneficial to the soil biome to wait until there is precipitation in the forecast.
Do you need to put it in a separate spray bottle?
Yes it is recommended to be put in a sprayer of some kind as you need to measure out the amount of product to use and mix it with the appropriate amount of water to make sure the product is working effectively. Please review the product label to know the mix rate you need which depends on what you are applying the solution to.
Can this be used on zoysia grass?
Yes, Essential Plus can be used on all types of turf grass.
How much coverage do you get in one gallon of this product?
That heavily depends on the application and rate. For a turf application, a rate of 3 fl oz per 1,000 sqft can cover an entire acre.
